Vietnam International Airports

Vietnam is served by three main international airports: Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) and Da Nang International Airport (DAD) located in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang respectively. Besides, there are also other international airports located in Can Tho (Can Tho airport), Quang Nam (Chu Lai airport), Da Lat (Lien Khuong airport), Hai Phong (Cat Bi airport), Hue (Phu Bai airport), Nha Trang (Cam Ranh airport) and Phu Quoc (Phu Quoc airport).

1. Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) - Hanoi Capital

Noi Bai International Airport is the biggest airport in northern Vietnam, serves the capital city of Hanoi. A number of the airlines operate from Hanoi Noi Bai Airport, including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, AirAsia, Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Airlines, Thai Airways, Lao Airlines, Nok Air and Tiger Airways. Noi Bai airport handles around 15 million passengers per year.

Location

The airport is located in Phu Minh, Soc Son, Hanoi. About 40 kilometres (20 miles) northeast of downtown Hanoi Center.

Quick Guide

For both domestic & international flight:

  • Arrival: on the first floor
  • Departure: on the second floor

Boarding gate:

  • Boarding gates from 1-5 is on the left wing of the airport and boarding gates from 6-10 is on the right wing.
  • Immigration departure is located at middle of the second floor.

Internet area      

  • At cafeteria on the fourth floor or in business lounge

Currency exchange      

  • On the first floor, ATM on the first and second floor.

Public telephone      

  • On the first and second floor

The airport top floor has several restaurants and bars that serve breakfasts, lunches and dinners.

Taxis or Airport Transportations

- Taxis are well regulated as you step out of the airport. Airport taxi costs about VND 350,000 (USD 18) for one way trip and toll charges are included in the price. A taxi from Noi Bai airport to Hanoi center takes about 45- 60 minutes depending on traffic.

- Vietnam Airlines has a minibus crew waiting to the right in front of the airport (left as you leave the airport). This convenient service will drop you off at the company’s office at 2 Quang Trung street, about 1km away from Hanoi Old Quarter. Ticket price is $2 one way.

- Hanoi Public Bus number 07 and 17 connect Noi Bai Airport with Hanoi city center. The bus stop is just on the right side of the exit gate. Traveling by bus 07 costs VND 7,000 (USD 0.3) per person and takes about 1 hour to Daewoo Hotel (360 Kim Ma st, Ba Đinh District).

2. Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) - Ho Chi Minh City

Tan Son Nhat International Airport is the largest airport in Vietnam, it has a handling capacity of 20 million passengers per year. Ho Chi Minh city also called Saigon.

Location

The airport is located in Tan Binh district, about 8km North of the city center.

Taxi or Airport Transportation

Airport taxi costs about 120,000 – 150,000 VND (about 5 - 7 USD) to the centre of Hochiminh city (toll charges are included in the price). Airport Taxi, Mai Linh or Vinasun are among the most popular and reliable companies. It is better that you line up to get the regulated taxi than waving one off the road to avoid scams.

Local bus runs every half hour between the airport and Ben Thanh market. Buses run between 6.00 and 18.00 and ticket price is 7,000 VND (0.3 USD). Though inexpensive and convenient, bus is not the best option when you have a lot of luggage.

3. Da Nang International Airport (DAD) - Da Nang City

The Da Nang International Airport is the third biggest airport in Vietnam. The new terminal has been opened at the end of 2011 offering travelers modern facilities and a wide range of airport services, including many shopping and dining venues. Vietnam Airlines operates a number of daily flights to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang and other destinations in Vietnam. International flights to Da Nang airport operate from Singapore, Seoul, South Korea and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Da Nang airport handles around 8 million passengers per year.

Location

Da Nang airport is located in Hai Chau, a county of Da Nang city, about 2km from the city center.

Taxi or Airport Transportation

You can reach anywhere in Da Nang by taxi, this is the only transportation here. The taxi cost  around 0.6 USD/km.
